Five Lynyrd Skynyrd Facts

First fact, is they are the best southern rock band EVER! Okay, that is just my opinion but still, who hasn’t heard Sweet Home Alabama at least once in their life?

Where did the band find their name?

As a joke they named their band after a teacher they “hated”, Coach Leonard. Coach Leonard known as Leonard Skinner from their high-school is the man behind the well known name Lynyrd Skynyrd. Mr. Skinner would send the boys home for their rowdy ways. But they eventually made peace and became friends with Coach Leonard.

Ronnie’s brothers

Although Ronnie was a very talented man, one of his brother’s was actually a hit himself. Donnie Van Zant the singer of “38 Special”. His other brother Johnny Van Zant went to take over his older brother’s very famous band “Lynyrd Skynyrd”.
